Kissing Cousins

While in California Ike got to hang out with his adorable cousin Kelsey. Isn't that the sweetest little kiss she gave him. His Cousin Collin said that Ike was even cuter than Spike, which is saying alot because Spikes a pretty cute dog.

Passing on the love

Love for In-N-Out that is.
We stopped by on the way to the airport for one last taste of California.

Ike's looking like a true California boy. He only ate one fry, but I think it was enough to start him down the road of an In-N-Out obsession that his Mom and Dad share.

The paps just won't leave Ike alone. It's tough being as cute as he is.

Real Skater Boy

Outside on my back patio in California Ike found a skate board and amazed us all by climbing on keeping one leg on the ground and starting to push with one foot. Just like a natural. Rainey is my witness.

I then quickly grabbed my camera and tried to get him to do it again but of coarse he wouldn't.

It may have been a fluke but I think the kid has real talent and it's only a matter of time before I'm driving him to the skate park.
I didn't get him on video but you can kind of get an idea from this short video.

Ike's day at the beach

As you can tell by his face, he didn't love it. He's like his mom, I'm not a beach person either.

It was a crowded hot day, but it was the beach so we made the best of it. Ike was pretty much just hanging on me the whole time. Then a very nice lady walked by and offered her chair and umbrella to us which saved the day. In the shade it was the perfect temperature. I didn't want to take away from Kellee and Rainey catching some rays.

He was not happy about getting his feet wet or getting sandy. But we got some pictures and we can say that we came, we saw and we probably won't be back till he's a little older and can run around.

Postcard from the Mother Land

Ike got an international postcard today. His second to date, the first was from Costa Rica. This one is from his Aunt Holly in Germany. She is there on a Fullbright scholarship to learn about education in other countries. She was chosen from THOUSANDS (380 actually) of teachers to go to Germany. Being that it's the homeland of Ryan's dad she was thrilled.

She's been having an amazing time. I'm totally jealous. But I'm so happy for her and proud of her for being chosen to have this experience. Thanks for thinking of Ike while you are on the other side of the world. We Love you!

How Ike entertains himself

Ike's favorite thing is to climb into his toy box and one by one pull all his toys out. Once he's got them all out if he can reach them he'll start putting them back in. Obviously this is a little older picture, his hair doesn't grow that fast, but it is growing. By the time you get home Holly is will be just as long as when you left.

Don't ask me

Ike got some new cute Robot pajama's. I really like them, only thing is the feet are really long. I'm not sure if Ike's feet are especially short or if whoever designed it has a clown baby.

Ike found them very entertaining. He was contorting and twisting pulling his feet. They also frustrated him because when he was getting around he would keep stepping on the toe and couldn't move his foot. It was funny until he kept doing it and started crying.

Bithday cake boy

Even though Ike's not feeling great I still wanted him to have some cake for his birthday so I went and picked him up a cute cupcake. I think he enjoyed it. I didn't let him destroy it, because I want to eat it, but he got messy enough.

Happy Birthday Ike

It was one year ago today that a sweet little angel came into my life and changed it forever.

Ryan's whole family was there awaiting Ike's arrival. They had to wait quite awhile because we called them when I started pushing but it took 2 1/2 hours for him to come out. He must have been really comfortable because he was 9 days late and took about 12 hours to come out once I was induced.

He was so sweet and cute from the second he came out. Ok maybe not right when he came out, He was kind of blue and had a banana head. But quickly went away.

I think it's pretty safe to say it was one of Ryan and my happiest day of our lives.

Aunt Cate is Great

I'm still in denial that Ike is turning 1 on Saturday, but fortunately not everyone is. Ike got his first birthday present today from his cousins Collin and Kelsey.

They said it was one of their favorite books. I agree, it's super cute with just a touch of irreverence.

"Do you like my new hat?" says Cowboy.

"Wow," says Octopus. "That is really...um...different. Do you like my new hat?"

Cowboy says "Nope".

"Hey!" says Octopus. "I said something nice to you. Why don't you say something nice to me? I thought we were friends."

"We are friends," says Cowboy. "And that's why I am telling you - your new hat looks like something my horse dropped behind him.' Cause that's the truth."

Ryan got his way

Yep we did it, we shaved Ike's head.
I was just going to give him a little trim but a few missteps and I ended up giving him a short mohawk. When Ryan got home he insisted we just shave it all off. I have to say I have mixed feelings, he's cute no matter what but I think I like him with a little more hair. But it grows. And he's still my cutest baby boy.Enjoy video of his first buzz cut. He actually did pretty good especially for being his second hair cut of the day.

Skater Boy

I took Ike to the Skate Park today and he was tearing it up. He was by far the best 1 year old on four wheels.

He was doing rail slides and kick flips like he was born to do it.
