Happy Halloween!

Ike the penguin wanted to wish you all a Happy Halloween.
We had a fun birthday / Halloween party at Holly's house. I was suppose to be a 50's greaser. Really it was an excuse to wear my cute sweater and way too much eye liner. Ike was a big hit at the party. All of Holly's friends said he looks even cuter in person, what pictures are you showing people Holly? Happy Birthday!

Pumpkin Carving Time

Sunday dinner ended in a fun Pumpkin Carving night. Thankfully Brittany was thoughtful enough to buy an extra pumpkin for me to carve. Even though I was partially handicap (I'll spare the you a picture) I cut my finger on a soup can. I think my pumpkin still turned out pretty cute (closest to Ike).

We even got a cute family picture out of the night. Thankfully Ryan's mom decorates her house so cute it makes perfect back drops for pictures.

I broke down

And bought something Winnie the Pooh. I hate winnie the pooh, no offense to anyone who likes it but I don't. It might have something to do with over weight adult men who wear Pooh sweatshirts. I'm not a fan of looney tunes either but I'll save that rant till I have to buy something with them on it. I would mention I'm not a big fan of Disney in general but Ryans family would disown me so I don't go there.

The justification was that it was under 40 bucks and it has muted colors. If I was a millionaire I'd buy all super cool modern kids stuff, but I'm not and am stuck shopping at Walmart so sorry Ike you have to have a few pooh things, I'll make it up to you.

Baby pattern baldness

Where did all his hair go. I've heard every baby goes through this but it's sad, he was born with such a perfect full head of hair. And Now...

He looks like a 40 year old from above. I want to shave his head but Ryan's mom threatened to not watch him anymore if I do and we don't want that. So if anyone sees any cute hats anywhere let me know

Visiting the Witches

Brittany and I had the original idea of going to Gardner Village, funny thing is just about every family in Salt Lake County had that exact same Idea. Needless to say it was a bit hectic, but still fun. We got a few cute pictures for me to blog and Brittany to scrapbook. I was going to come up with a joke about us sitting next to grandma here but I figure I gave her a hard enough time about the pink pajama's I'd spare her.

Christian looked so handsome I had to get a quick picture of him too. We had fun going to lunch afterwards at Jason's deli where I got the biggest potato I've ever seen. Thanks for the fun day!

Grandma's footing the bill for therapy.

I picked up Ike yesterday and Grandma had him in these pink pajamas. Supposedly he spit up all over his clothes, but I think she just was pretending she had a grand daughter instead of all these cute grandsons. I hold great grandma responsible too, but that's what

happens when I leave two lady's to their own devices. I have to admit he looks pretty cute. I think he still looks like a boy, even with a pink bow. But what's the fun of having a baby if you can't play with him and dress him up. I'm sure he'll forgive you grandma.

Auntie Sarah

My friend Sarah is playing part time mom to her cute niece and nephew while their parents are away on business. I figured she could use another kid in the mix so I brought Ike over last night for a little pizza party. I left my Hooter Hider over there so we will have a repeat tonight. That's ok I can never get enough of Sarah and who can't get enough of Ike.

Vegas Baby!

I call this bed!

Ike went on his first plane trip to Vegas, he did awesome, slept the whole way there and back. Emily was nice enough to watch him while Ryan and I went to the BYU game. Ike got a lot of Daddy time being strapped to him in his baby bjorn. Ryan decided he doesn't like grown men making faces at him across the bus. Poor Ryan got pointed and laughed at more than he's ever had before. If Ike weren't so darn cute.

Rollie Pollie

I can't keep Ike on his back anymore. He's gotten so good at rolling over he does it just about every time you lay him down. Then he gets frustrated after being on his stomach for too long. He hasn't mastered the rolling back over to his back yet. I'm sure it won't be long.

Look at mom, put face in blanket, repeat...

I just thought it was cute that he kept doing the same thing over and over.

Rubber Ducky

Your the one!
I love catching these cute little weird faces. 'this is my ducky, isn't it shiny, yes, well'.
Ike's at the stage where he puts just about everything in his mouth he can get his hands on. Which includes but is not limited to, his hand, fingers, thumb, my hair, shoulder, cheek, toys, and his favorite green binkies.

I can't wait til he can kiss me. You would think he would know by now for the amount that Ryan and me kiss him. Right now I get the occasional open mouth slobber on my cheek when he thinks it's something else. I'll take that for now and keep giving him tons of kisses.

Good Morning

Ike is the cutest boy in the morning. His face just looks so sweet first thing, it's hard to explain. It's my favorite thing to wake up next to him and see him smiling up at me. He goes through so many faces and looks when he's trying to wake up. In this clip he had been awake for a while so it's not quite what I'm talking about but I kept hearing him talking while I was getting ready so I had to film it.

I'm 4 Months Old!

Ike had his 4 month check up yesterday and it was decided that Ike is pretty much perfect. He weighs 13 lbs. 13 oz. 29th percentile. He's 26 inches long. 90th percentile. His head size was in the 49th percentile. He's just getting so big. But he just keeps getting cuter as he grows.

I see you

I was playing with my hood and pulled it all the way over my face. Don't worry I can still see mama.

Daddy makes me laugh

I finally got Ike laughing on video, it's the cutest thing. He will usually laugh when we give him 'zerberts' blow on his tummy or neck. It's the cutest thing to see him laugh and smile. Ryan is really good at getting him going, he must love his papa.

Baseball Boys

My boys watching baseball together

I was ready to give Ike a bath but Ryan wouldn't give him up, he said 'no, me and my son are watching baseball together.'

The thing is Ike was really watching intently, and it wasn't even the Dodgers playing. It was too cute, I let them have there bonding time before I gave Ike his bath.

Why I love Monkeys

I heard something very interesting on my favorite radio program This American Life on NPR.

"Hard as it is to believe, during the early Twentieth Century, a whole school of mental health professionals decided that unconditional love was a terrible thing to give a child. The government printed pamphlets warning mothers against the dangers of holding their kids. The head of the American Psychological Association and even a mothers' organization endorsed the position that mothers were dangerous—until psychologist Harry Harlow set out to prove them wrong, through a series of experiments with monkeys."

Leave it to monkeys to teach us stupid humans that it's a good thing to love our kids.
It was a good episode about the joys and trials of being a parent it's titled 'unconditional love' which is what it takes to be a parent. I recommend a listen if you are interested http://www.thislife.org/Radio_Episode.aspx?sched=1204

BTW You can download free podcasts of This American Life on itunes each week. Or they play on NPR on the weekends.

I think it's a sign...

that I'm a good mom. Ike was falling asleep when he got started (Ryan doing the dishes at 11pm) he opened his eyes, looked at me and smiled, then closed his eyes again. I like to think that means he's happy and comforted by me. Being a mom is pretty darn cool.

October is Here!

Is baby boy not the cutest thing ever. I got this little shirt and hat in the dollar section at Target. He was going to Brittany's house today and she has her house all decorated cute with Halloween (and thanksgiving) stuff so I wanted Ike to fit in. I think I'm going to have to go get a couple more hats and shirts they are too cute. Now that I'm a mom I have to do all these holiday things so I might as well embrace it.
