And bought something Winnie the Pooh. I hate winnie the pooh, no offense to anyone who likes it but I don't. It might have something to do with over weight adult men who wear Pooh sweatshirts. I'm not a fan of looney tunes either but I'll save that rant till I have to buy something with them on it. I would mention I'm not a big fan of Disney in general but Ryans family would disown me so I don't go there.
Where did all his hair go. I've heard every baby goes through this but it's sad, he was born with such a perfect full head of hair. And Now...
Brittany and I had the original idea of going to Gardner Village, funny thing is just about every family in Salt Lake County had that exact same Idea. Needless to say it was a bit hectic, but still fun. We got a few cute pictures for me to blog and Brittany to scrapbook. I was going to come up with a joke about us sitting next to grandma here but I figure I gave her a hard enough time about the pink pajama's I'd spare her.
My friend Sarah is playing part time mom to her cute niece and nephew while their parents are away on business. I figured she could use another kid in the mix so I brought Ike over last night for a little pizza party. I left my Hooter Hider over there so we will have a repeat tonight. That's ok I can never get enough of Sarah and who can't get enough of Ike.
I can't keep Ike on his back anymore. He's gotten so good at rolling over he does it just about every time you lay him down. Then he gets frustrated after being on his stomach for too long. He hasn't mastered the rolling back over to his back yet. I'm sure it won't be long.
I just thought it was cute that he kept doing the same thing over and over.
Ike is the cutest boy in the morning. His face just looks so sweet first thing, it's hard to explain. It's my favorite thing to wake up next to him and see him smiling up at me. He goes through so many faces and looks when he's trying to wake up. In this clip he had been awake for a while so it's not quite what I'm talking about but I kept hearing him talking while I was getting ready so I had to film it.
Ike had his 4 month check up yesterday and it was decided that Ike is pretty much perfect. He weighs 13 lbs. 13 oz. 29th percentile. He's 26 inches long. 90th percentile. His head size was in the 49th percentile. He's just getting so big. But he just keeps getting cuter as he grows.
I finally got Ike laughing on video, it's the cutest thing. He will usually laugh when we give him 'zerberts' blow on his tummy or neck. It's the cutest thing to see him laugh and smile. Ryan is really good at getting him going, he must love his papa.
I heard something very interesting on my favorite radio program This American Life on NPR.
"Hard as it is to believe, during the early Twentieth Century, a whole school of mental health professionals decided that unconditional love was a terrible thing to give a child. The government printed pamphlets warning mothers against the dangers of holding their kids. The head of the American Psychological Association and even a mothers' organization endorsed the position that mothers were dangerous—until psychologist Harry Harlow set out to prove them wrong, through a series of experiments with monkeys."
Leave it to monkeys to teach us stupid humans that it's a good thing to love our kids.
It was a good episode about the joys and trials of being a parent it's titled 'unconditional love' which is what it takes to be a parent. I recommend a listen if you are interested http://www.thislife.org/Radio_Episode.aspx?sched=1204
BTW You can download free podcasts of This American Life on itunes each week. Or they play on NPR on the weekends.
that I'm a good mom. Ike was falling asleep when he got started (Ryan doing the dishes at 11pm) he opened his eyes, looked at me and smiled, then closed his eyes again. I like to think that means he's happy and comforted by me. Being a mom is pretty darn cool.
Is baby boy not the cutest thing ever. I got this little shirt and hat in the dollar section at Target. He was going to Brittany's house today and she has her house all decorated cute with Halloween (and thanksgiving) stuff so I wanted Ike to fit in. I think I'm going to have to go get a couple more hats and shirts they are too cute. Now that I'm a mom I have to do all these holiday things so I might as well embrace it.
