The Last night in our home in Pleasant grove turned out to be a pretty magical night. We ended up having all the cousins over to play, for I think the first and unfortunately the last time. I'll admit I was a little hesitant to spend the last night in my house with a lot of kids but I became nostalgic for the night before it was even over. I know my boys miss their cousins so much. It was so nice to have them so close and get to see them every Sunday if not more. Ike is making lots of friends out here but nothing compares to COUSINS.

Ike's Preschool

Ike's been loving Preschool. He's been going MWF from 1-3:30 for about a month now. He's already learned the pledge of allegiance and a lot of different songs. The little girl with the glasses LOVES Ian and has to pick him up and hug him every chance she gets. She won't even let me leave without giving him a kiss. The teacher commented on it today and said, 'You guys don't know her?' I was like, no she just loves Ian. But who wouldn't?

Apple Harvest SD

We went to the apple harvest festival here in Sioux Falls, SD. It was fun but very crowded. We got our requisite pumpkin shots, even though it was a little sunny and Ike thought it was funny to stick out his tongue in every shot. Wonder where he got that? (Jace and Christian).

Thanksgiving Point Farm

Ian has started saying his animal sounds and is loving farm animals so I thought it was time to take him to the farm at Thanksgiving Point. He loved it but wouldn't go on a pony ride so lucky Ike got to ride twice. We also went on a little wagon ride and checked out all the cute animals.

I decided to take Ike to Chuck E Cheese for his 4th Birthday since he'd never been before. Ian and cousin Jace. I also invited my friend April too who brought her 4 kids plus a baby she's watching so between the two of us we had a big party. Ike was having a lot of fun until...

Chuck E. showed up. While all the other kids were excited to see him Ike scurried up to the top of the play area and screamed his head off. I couldn't get to him so I did the only thing a responsible parent would do. I laughed and took a picture of him.

Ike learns how to text

I discovered that Ike learned how to type his name on my phone so I figured it was time to teach him how to text message. The first was was sent to his dad. He typed his name by himself then I told him which letters to type for the rest of the message.

I may be sorry I showed him because I've noticed he's gone and text a few people without me knowing. Atleast he usually types his name at some point so you will know who it is. So for any of you out there I text message let me apologize in advance for any Ike texts you might get.

Halloween 2010

Ike had a lot of fun this Halloween. It was the first year where he really (sort of) understood what was going on. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate like we wanted it to. But we were still able to get out for about an hour.
He got to go with his cousins Jace, Christian and Owen. Ian stayed back with his dad and kept warm.

Ian did not like his spider costume. He was probably in it a total of 5 mins. Oh well.

I dressed up like a witch because I thought it would be fun to dress up like someone the complete opposite of me!

My sweet little Ian broke his leg on Saturday after a little tumble down the stairs. He's a tough little guy and I didn't even realize what had happened till I tried to put him down about an hour after it happened and he wouldn't put his left leg down. I brought him to the Urgent Care and got some X-rays and a splint put on him. Then today I got into my doctor and got a little blue cast put on it. It's either Dodgers blue or BYU blue.

Ike had a great birthday party. I think his favorite thing was that big present wrapped in Cars wrapping paper, it didn't even matter what was in it, although he loved all his presents. He thanked his dad for the bike for about a week afterwards. He still can't quite ride it but he will be able to soon. I still can't believe my Ikers is 3, he's turning into such a big boy.

Now we have Ian's birthday in about a week.

Both my boys got Chicken Pox. Ian got the first and Ike followed about 2 days later. I had Shingles about 2 weeks before they got them which is where they got them.

They don't look that bad in the picture but Ike's back was covered. Luckily they are all crusted over and so hopefully not contagious anymore. It's been a less then fun week though.

My boys love their cousin Jace. Ike talks about him everyday and gets so excited when we go see him.

Jace has always been so sweet to Ike, but he's even sweeter to Ian. We have to tell him to stop kissing him so much. He often tells Ian 'oh I love you so much'.

Jace has been a great example to Ike of how he should treat his brother. I'm thankful that Ike and Ian have such a good role model for being so nice and showing affection to his cousins.

Rotavirus Vaccine and Intussusception

I just wanted to make mention of a post that Ryan's cousin recently made. They almost lost their sweet little boy after he received the Rota virus Vaccine. They went through a horrific experience recently which I would hate to have happen to anyone else I know. I don't know all the specifics but you can go to Ryan's Cousins Blog and what happened last June and read their thoughts on it all.
Thanks to Ryan's mom and the doctor she works for I've become very careful about what vaccines I give my boys and when I give it to them. The doctor will only give one at a time and won't give within 2 months of each other. I'm not against vaccines I just think as mom's it's our responsibility to be as careful with our children's health as we can be.

To compare and contrast here is Ike at 6 months old.

and here's sweet Ian. He's just learned to suck in his bottom lip which is usually accompanied by a funny noise.

He's got beautiful blue eyes and the sweetest little round nose that I can't stop kissing. He's strong and starting to get mobile. He likes to push up his butt and skoot on his head. I know he'll be crawling very soon, not sure if I'm ready for that.

He really is the sweetest little baby. I thought Ike was a good baby but Ian is even better. I took him to my bookclub last night and he was a little angel, thank goodness.

Ok, he's crying now so I have to go, ha ha!

Christmas Update (a little late)

We had a really nice simple Christmas this year. This was actually Christmas morning before we opened presents. Ok so most of the presents were behind the tree. But really we each just got a couple things which was all we needed. We opened presents Christmas morning then went to Ryans parents and had a really nice day there. I made yummy buttermilk pancakes and buttermilk syrup for breakfast. Then we just hung out and played some card games and ate some more. It was one of my nicest Christmas's.

I got to go to California last week with Ryan and the boys. We had a really nice visit with my family. I also got to see one of my favorite people, Marjorie, the lady I was named after. I told her I wouldn't post this picture but we both look so cute I couldn't resist. She told me she checks Ike's blog every Tuesday and tells anyone passing by that these are her cute grand kids. I say by all means, she can claim me and them. I'm so glad I got a chance to spend some time with her while I was there.

My little man has learned how to talk. He's even doing it as I try to type this. I think it's absolutely adorable except when it's at 7am which is starting to be a habit. Ike loved Trick or Treating this year. At every house he said, 'Twick o Tweet" then he would say "thank you" and when he got back to me he would say "next house". That was his 3 repeated phrases all night. People let him choose which candy he wanted and I thought it was fun to see what he would pick since he really doesn't know what's what. Then when someone tried to hand him candy he just reached in the bowl anyways. He only got scared one time when an old man had a scary costume, but he didn't cry he just quickly turned around and left the doorstep without any candy. He ended up eating a little bag of peanut M&M's (nummy nums) and a little lollipop then all the candy disappeared, weird. It was a fun night.

I picked up some spongebob underwear and a training potty today and thought I'd see if Ike was interested. Well he sure liked the underwear. He instinctively put a pair on his head, and two on his bottom. Little boys in underwear is about the cutest thing in the world. He kept them on for about an hour but never went pee. I'm not officially starting to potty train him yet, that would be too stressfull, we are just getting use to the idea of underwear and toilets, and having some fun while we are at it.

Ike's new favorite hang out spot is Ian's swing. Technically it was Ike's to begin with but he knows it's the baby's now. Ike's become very aware of what belongs to who. Ryan was drinking out of a cup I usually use and Ike said 'no no that's momma's drink' took the cup and put it in the kitchen. He can even tell our phones apart, that's because he knows he's allowed to play with momma's phone and not dadda's phone. He's become obsessed with my phone actually which is good and bad. I've downloaded a bunch of educational applications on it so he's really learning his animals, colors, letters, numbers and sounds. I'm amazed at how well he can get around my iPhone, he can even pull up videos on Youtube that he likes. The bad thing is I have to keep my phone hidden most of the day and if I do use it to call someone he freaks out and tries to pull it out of my hands. He's even managed to answer it a few times, oops. BTW Sharon, I don't know if Ike called you or you called me yesterday, sorry.

Christian is actually a very good driver, and Ike had alot of fun cruising around with him.

My parents sent me money for Ike's birthday and I got him this cool kitchen with it. Ike loves it. I'm not sure if he gets the concept of it being a kitchen, he mostly puts his cars and toys in the different cupboards but it entertains him and that's all that matters.

Wow Wow Everyone Ike is 2!

Ike had a super fun Birthday Party yesterday. I threw him a Wow Wow Wubbzy Garden Party. Well sort of, it was a little rainy and cool so we mostly stayed inside but we still had fun. This was Ike's cake. I came up with the idea a few months ago and I thought it turned out cute.

He had a strawberry pinata that I filled with lizards and frogs and cars. His cousins loved the goodies and there was only a little drama over splitting the cars evenly. Too bad the broom handle was in every shot but you get the idea.

Ike got lots of fun presents. He got a skateboard, a magna doodle, a Yo Gabba Gabba dance pad, a drum, a Wubzy doll, a Dodgers Mr. Potato head, some squishy baseballs. I'm sure some more things, he liked everything he got.

Daddy helped Ike open all his presents. Well Ike and the cousins. Amazingly they all didn't get opened and played with before we left.

Then we had cake! Ike was just eating it face down in the plate, but then Grandpa had to give him a spoon and make it eat it more civilized. Well he is 2 now so we must be proper.

Ike and Owen riding grandma's horsey. Yeah they are about a year apart and about the same size. They already fight over toys, but I know they are going to be best buddies.

Ike thought it was so funny to put the little swimmers package on his head. Yes I was watching him the whole time. He loves the 4 wheeler Grandma got him for Christmas even if Ryan doesn't and I get the songs stuck in my head.

Ike's favorite thing at Thanksgiving point is the pony rides. He's really good at riding them all by himself. The last time we went there was a Mom and kids sitting on the bench watching and every time we passed she's say 'look how small he is and he's riding all by himself'. I wasn't sure if I should be offended or proud, I'll take pride, Ike has amazing balance.

Is Ike the cutest little space ranger or what. His cousin Jace has quite the collection of dress up costumes and he really wanted Ike to put one on so I asked for his smallest one which is still a little big, but looked adorable on him.

I love how Ike is looking at Jace in this picture. He thinks Jace is the coolest. Not a day goes by that he doesn't ask where Jace is. Every time we leave the house he says, 'go see Jace'. I can't wait till Ike's little brother looks at Ike this way.

Cars, Skateboards, figurines, books, Anything Paul Frank (small paul), 20 dollar bills.

Well that's what I can think of so far. His birthday is June 7th but he'll accept cards and gifts all month.

We went to the park in Orem on Center behind the library. He hadn't been to this park since last summer but that didn't matter. He took my hand and headed out.

Did he go down the first little slide? No.

He headed up the stairs.

Did he go down the second slide that was straight and pretty big? No.

He kept going.

Did the big step stoop him? No.

And went down first thing. What a brave boy. I hope he stays this way.

I can only imagine if Jace was with us he'd be freaking out over Ike's safety.

Cousin Owen had a fun Punk Rock birthday party. He's the one with the blue mohawk. Ike broke out his 3month Social Distortion onsie that still sort of fit him. Owen got the coolest drum set that all the boys wanted to play. Ike's birthday is coming up in 2 months, can you believe it. I've been brainstorming some Theme's which Ryan has veto'd all of them and says we are having a 'birthday' theme with cake and balloons and that's it. Bah Humbug. Where's the fun in that. At the moment I'm deciding between Old Skool Hip Hop, Robots, Yo Gabba Gabba or Wow wow Wubbzy. Ryan's family gets into it so why not take advantage and have some fun, that's what a party is about anyways.

This is what I get when I'm getting Ike ready to 'takeabath' he says it all in one word. I was filling the bath and Ike was finding toys to throw in, then Ryan told me to come watch something on TV and a minute later I went in the bathroom to find Ike fully dressed in the tub. He actually had a sweater on too but I took that off before deciding to grab the camera. What a cute little stinker he is.

Play Date

Ike and I met up with my cute friend Jemma and her son Liam for a lunch/play date at Les Madelines in Salt Lake. Ike loved the homemade Mac'nCheese that Liam got. You can see on the table Jemma gave me the most delicious smelling lavender hand soap by Mrs. Meyers. Every time I wash my hands I can't stop smelling them. Liam was nice enough to share his food and entertain us with some funny faces.

After lunch we went to Jemma's and the boys played while ladies sipped some chamomile and relaxed. It was a lovely day all around.

I caught Ike reading one of his favorite books. Hand hand fingers thumb it's all about monkeys drumming that's why Ike keeps saying 'tap tap tap'. In the second video he's on the page where the monkey's are playing violin that's why he's moving his arm like that. What a cute smart boy.

We discovered recently that Ike has a nack for putting puzzles together. Holly got him one for Christmas and he was so good at putting it together I had to go get him a couple more.

One night Ryan and I were watching TV and Ike was stacking up all his puzzle pieces then got frustrated and knocked them all over the floor. Maybe 5 mins later we both noticed that the puzzles were put together will all the pieces. We both looked at each other and said, 'didn't he just knock all those pieces down.' We were amazed he was able to pick them all up and assemble the puzzles so quick. Not to brag, but come on, that's good.

In the video you'll notice he finds the turtle and puts it in it's spot, then he picks up the goat and horsey (which he says) but they are in the upper puzzle, so the second video he's up on the table putting them in their place.

Budding Artist

Ike has become very proficient at drawing. After Christmas I got him some crayons and a couple of books to start drawing in. He has both of them almost all filled up with drawings.

And not just one or two scribbles on a page and not just one or two colors, but he really goes to town and uses every color and fills the entire page. I think it's pretty brilliant but I have to think that I'm his mom.

and Debbie. Ike got his Christmas present in the mail from Grandma and Grandpa via Debbie. He got a super cute Sock Monkey robe and an Eric Carle elephant and book. I'll have to teach him what elephants say now.

Ike and The Boys

Ike and I got to have a quick visit with Donavon, Simon and Duncan last week. It was so good to see them. I use to live with them off and on from the time they were born and now that they live in California I don't get to see them that often. I got to take them for pizza and hot chocolate and catch up with them a bit. Silly me I only took one picture but I'm glad I got to spend time with my 3 favorite boys, I mean 4 favorite, I can't forget Ike.

My first Christmas

My Daddy wanted to get me little pajama's that said 'Baby's first Christmas' none of them were my size because as mommy tried to explain to him, it's not my first Christmas. Daddy says it's the first Christmas I'm going to remember but that's not true either, I can't even remember what I had for breakfast this morning. Next year is going to be my real first Christmas so for all my Grandparents and Aunts and Uncles out there that forgot to get me something this year, don't sweat it, I won't remember anyways, but if you forget next year...

Like Dadda's like Ike

Ike likes to play with the playstation controller any chance he gets. I have a feeling he's a budding gammer, just like his dadda.

You'd think he was really playing something, but he's just excited to have the remote all to himself.

Ryan is out of town for a couple of days and we miss him already. Come home safely Daddy, we'll keep the PS3 warm for you.

Printed T-shirt

Ike and I finally made it to Signed and Numbered to get a shirt printed. Each month they have a different design that they will print on whatever you bring in.

This month of coarse was Christmas themed. I thought this reindeer was really cute. They also have a lot of really cool prints mostly original concert posters but some non concert ones that are really cool too. It's one of my new favorite places to go.

Especially since I got to meet up with my friend Jemma and her cute little stinker Liam. She invited us over for chicken soup afterwards which is just what my soul needed (here's where I would insert a smiley face is I was one of those people). Thanks Jemma, it was fun hanging out.

A week of being a two year old

I'm not sure if the haircut was inspired by the behavior or the behavior was inspired by the haircut. But for about a week around the time I gave Ike a mohawk he acted like a bratty two year old. Throwing tantrums, crying if the littlest thing upset him. I seriously thought I was going to loose my mind. But I must have done something right because after about a week he kind of snapped out of it. He still throws little ones or does the hands up back arch when he's not happy but nothing like that week. He's been the sweetest little boy up till now. Then Jason had to go and say 'maybe Ike is just always going to be perfect', then a couple days later it started. Thanks alot Jason.
I think I have my sweet boy back now, knock on wood.

Dino Museum

Ike and I finally went to the Dinosaur Museum at Thanksgiving Point. We met up with my new friend Rachel and her 5 year old boy Daniel. He was very cute and helpful showing me and Ike all the cool stuff at the Museum.

At the end they have an area with sand where you can brush away the sand to reveal the dino bones. Ike was a little freaked out by the sand at first but quickly got over it and ended up playing in there for a long time with his new friend. It was a good day with new friends.

Coolest Happy Mail

Ike and I got the coolest Happy Mail from Rainey the other day. She said that Simon saw it and just had to get it for Ike. Good eye Simon, you pick the best Happy Mail ever.

I figure if I just have Ike where a hoodie everyday till his black eye goes away people will think he's a little boxer instead of an abused child.

What happened? Oh yeah, people keep asking me and I keep forgetting that my sweet little boy has a big shiner. Well he crawled up on my magazine rack Saturday night and fell off hitting his big wooden toy on the way down. Ryan and I both watched him do it. He actually didn't cry for that long and then fell asleep pretty soon after it happened. (and stayed asleep, I'm thinking of adding it to his nighttime routine). He got a balloon out of it from a nice lady at Smiths who felt sorry for him. He seems to be a quick healer so hopefully it will be gone soon.

Little Stinker Dinker

I was frosting some Halloween cupcakes and Ike kept trying to climb up on me and then cry when I wouldn't pick him up so I put him in his highchair next to the table to watch while I frosted them. I found a cute design online for the cupcakes and had to run downstairs to remind myself what they looked like. While down there I checked my email and was starting to reply to when when I had a feeling like Ike was probably out of his highchair on on the table eating all the cupcakes. So I ran back upstairs to find this... He was so happy when I found him how could I be mad. He ate half of one and was onto his second when when I got there.

Can you say sugar high, I gave him a bath after I found him and had to chase a naked boy around the kitchen for a while before I could through him in the tub.

Thank you everyone for voting on what Ike should be for Halloween. But the truth of the matter is I don't have any of those costumes and at this point I'm not going to go out and get them. Especially since Ryan has informed me that all holidays are stupid and just a capitolistic ploy to make people spend money.
So below are the real options. Please take a moment to comment on the one you think he should wear. I'm honestly torn, I think they are all cute, but then I'm bias because of who's wearing them. Sorry about the bogus poll, I would love to dress Ike as Elvis, maybe next year.

My Aunt Marlene is awesome. She sends Ike a card for Halloween, Christmas and his Birthday Plus a few other holidays. She also throws in a little sumthin' sumthin' which almost always ends up in Ike's piggy bank. The kid has more money than I do.

It's so nice that she is always thinking of Ike and sending him sweet little messages. We got some cute Halloween pics taken at Target that we'll have to send her as a thank you.

I discovered that Ike likes Adele, the singer. She was on SNL and he was watching intently and clapping when we watched it, no I didn't keep him up till midnight is was recorded. Ryan was watching it later with Ike and started dancing for Ike and snapping his fingers and Ike started doing it too. We played it for him again and caught him doing a few snaps.

I forgot to post this from Jace's birthday party. It's a little disturbing, for me anyway.

I'm not a fan of guns, especially for my kid to play with, but boys will be boys, and I don't know how they innately know what to do.

It was a super hero party and Ike didn't fit in any of Jace's 100 costumes so instead he wore a pirate eye patch over his third eye and became Captain Third Eye, there's a whole back story but I won't go into all that.

Pumpkin Carving Time

It's that time of year!

Aunt Brittany was nice enough to have us over to carve pumpkins and make a mess in her house.

Ike sure loves his pumpkin, He's learned to give kisses, apparently indiscriminately.
Brittany has the coolest Halloween tree in her front room that Ike was fascinated with.

Now we all want cool Halloween trees now.

All the boys made cute pumpkins. Owen carved a black widow all by himself, amazing. Ok, Jace is the only one who actually carved it himself, and I think it's the cutest. The boys thought mine looked scary but I was going for it looking like Domo that Target is using to advertise their Holloween. And Christain got this cool 'light bright' kit that he got to hammer into his pumpkin.

Baseball

It's official, Ike loves baseball. Ryan got home and turned on the game and Ike got so excited. He gets his bat and starts swinging it, and even when he doesn't have the bat he takes his hands and does a swinging motion like in the video. It's gotten to the point where he's even taken hold of my hair with both hands and tried to swing it. On Sunday Grandpa Dennis was watching the Dodger game in the back bedroom and Ike kept disappearing to the back room, every time I'd go back there he's be standing there watching the game with grandpa. He already started throwing a ball before he was suppose to be able to and now he's swinging a bat like a pro. It's only a matter of time.

An ode to Daisy

My good friend Sarah has a one eyed Pug named Daisy, who I was lucky enough to live with for a time. So when I saw this costume for Ike I had to put it on the short list for Halloween.
It's really cute and turns Ike into a big cuddly stuffed animal that can give you hugs and kisses. When I put it on Ike in the store he made his doggy noise, 'wuf wuf'.
I haven't decided for sure to keep it though only because I bought a Large at Target which is size 3-4T and it's still short in the torso for him. Ike barely fits in his 12 month clothes so there is something seriously off with this one. Also the zipper kind of sticks and a couple others at the store had broken zippers and snaps which makes me nervous.
But I had to get some pics, if nothing else to show Sarah the second cutest pug in town.

Animals at Thanksgiving Point

I forgot to post the pictures from when Emily and I went to Thanksgiving Point to see the animals. I would have gone earlier if I would have known it's only 3.50, although I really need to just buy a pass then I can go all I want.

I love this shot of Jace, I think just for the symmetry and lighting, not to mention the frog boots.
Ike wouldn't actually ride the horse by himself. I had to be right next to him with his arm wrapped around mine, but despite a little freak out right at first he did really well and actually kind of liked it.
The goats are fun too, they have the tiniest little pygmy baby goats, what are those called, who knows. Almost made me wish I would have gotten one for Ryan for Christmas last year, but not really. Ok does the top third of this picture remind anyone else of 'the emporors new grove'?

Little Bruiser

Ike face planted on the cement yesterday and got a little scaped up nose and forehead. Add a shaved head and an Addidas sweat suit and I wouldn't want to run into him in a back alley. Ryan thinks he looks like a Guido with this face. I agree.
Is he smiling cause he likes you or is he smiling because he's about to smash you with a baseball bat. This looks could go either way.
I keep thinking he looks French or Eastern European today, because of the movies La Haine and Everything is Illuminated, Random I know. He's cute no matter what.

Ike sings Sigur Ros

Ryan and I were driving up the canyon to see the changing leaves listening to Sigur Ros and realized that Ike was in the back singing his heart out to it. He finally found some lyrics that he can relate to. If you are unfamiliar with Sigur Rose they sing in a made up language called Hopelandic. We should have taken Ike to the concert if we would have known how much he would have liked it and sung along.

This second video is short but it shows how he was following along with the music, if he wouldn't have coughed at the end it would have been perfect.
